Lacking actual usable information, I wanted to provide some service to the blogosphere other than just amusing myself.

And please help me make sure this new plugin is working. If you haven’t received a link in a couple of days, drop me a line.

Can you please explain how this works?

Thanks! :)

I recently did the same thing to my wondrous journals, dear Brent. Now we can follow each other all across the blogosphere!

Don’t look behind you, sir!

This is so unfair! I do not yet have my own blog to gain points with. I fear that you will force me to do something that I am not yet prepared to do……… Damn you Dr. T!

oops sorry for my outburst……. I’ll just go lie down now.

I stumbled over this site so I decided to take a look inside. I read the post and the comments and loved what I read. I especially like the “comment” comment? I look forward to revisiting.

Greeting, Ominous dude. I’m stopping by merely to check your “dofollow” status, so that I can add it to my list. Thank you for being a dofollow blog.

Well,(someone correct me if I am wrong) most blog software puts a no-follow attribute on comments from other blogs, so they do not “count” as links in the ranking structure of Google,Technorati and others.

This important because, much like in economics, those who have have an easier time getting more. The more popular your blog is (or appears to be in the case of some less scrupulous people)the easier it is to get more traffic: Search engines rank you higher, more people link to you, which feeds the cycle again.

SEO people talk about a tipping point, where your blog finally achieves enough recognition, or momentum so to speak, that it can sustain itself without the wholesale promotion required to get to that point.

The do-follow plug in I installed gives commenters links back to their blog from mine.

I’m exhausted. Anyone have anything to add.

I had wondered what that smell was, Bourbon and liverwurst, clearly a lord.

I think you handled that pretty thoroughly. Welcome to the dofollow/no nofollow club. RL is no nofollow as well.

So, what you’re saying is, is that if I comment here, and put my blog as the link, instead of my actual website, I get extra brownie points? I don’t suppose you’d like to try to explain this whole RSS thingy? Those of us born before a certain date which shall not be mentioned have just been left in the dust by all this rapidly changing technology. It’s a wonder we can even make toast. Or coffee. Remember percolators? I didn’t think so.
Oops…got off track there. Thanks for any help you have…keep up all the good writing!

Well done. Very well done.

I remember percolators and also calculators with glowing red led readout.

RSS is a syndication system. The little orange icon up top transforms this page into my own newspaper or radio station.

People (lots and lots of them) can click it and subscribe to this blog. There are a million different feedreaders to chose from (I think Yahoo has one) but once all the clicking is done and the dust clears, my multitude of subscribers (currently 72)get my latest post sent to them as soon as it is finished, just like a newspaper.

That’s basically it, but as usual anyone cna chime in with anything I might have forgotten.
