Mechanical Measurements

Have you ever wondered what sort of timeframe mechanics use to gauge how long a repair will take?

Dog years? Light years? Geological epochs?

This universal question takes on surprising new depths when explored in the steamy environs of the American mid-south.

That’s just the kind of intelligence that contributes to her longevity.

Yes, it took great momentum to heave that truck into position for this photo.

Not a lot of intelligence though…

From what I can tell, this guy’s working on his exhaust system. (He’s got a mig welder out ((albeit a pretty lame one)) and I can’t see his tailpipe. …Which leads me to believe that he’s trying to get the truck through emissions.

Which leads me to the point here: with increasing government limits on emissions, this is exactly the type of accident–people being crushed under their trucks–that we should expect to see more of. Consequently, this increase in “accidental” crushings is clearly bound to put an immense stress on our heathcare system, thereby accelerating our national debt and sending it toward its ultimate demise.

Solution 1: remove all requirements for vehicle emissions testing–nationally.

Solution 2: extend tax credits to all truck owners for purchases of certifiably stable jack stands and jacks.

Solution 3: Require all trucks–nationally–to be of exceedingly high weight so that this situation never happens being the truck is too heavy. Or …Require all trucks to have suitable clearance (make 10″ lift kits mandatory) so that one can weld one’s own exhaust system without the need to jack the truck up.

I follow you, but I was thinking more of a stimulating federal lumber package to insure all shade-tree mechanics are properly equipped with 2×4’s.

I think such a federal “beam-out” program would be very useful and quite popular in these parts.

And as an added bonus, once you cook him out, it should make a nice snack.

I think this not the only reason for a long life of women. you must think about all other cases also.
