Innuendo Records Unveils Ominous Album…Meme

by Brent on February 5, 2008

in Random

At long last I have completed my entry to the album meme.

As always, the Comma is dedicated to the arts, especially the fine art of procrastination. In fact, I am such a supporter of that particular discipline that Catherine who originally tagged me for this honor, must have despaired that I would ever undertake the task.

But I have and here is the dubious result.

Hungerfordia Pelewensis ~ the Ominous Comma

Included tracks:

  • There Goes My Spleen Again
  • Technorati Blues
  • Irrigate My Corpuscles (But Please Don’t Break My Heart)
  • Rock 2.0
  • She Blogged Meme All Night Long
  • Subscribe To The Comma
  • Blogging Machine

Not bad–rather moody indeed.

Ba ba ba-da-da-da. Catchy. A fine example of “gastropod” rock.

hehe the sample track is very Devo-like. Nice one and welcome to the only cool meme in the blogsphere. :)

Mighty fine! Get your publicist to promo (I’m a) Blogging Machine to be the soundtrack for SXSW. it will get some geeks dancing like 80s Eurotrash, I can see it! Compound fracture of day? I’m seeing if that domain is gone yet..will be a great fan site.

I would totally buy that single.

How did you get my biography?

Oh, but you did the meme the best – love the song inclusion. And I’d copy, but then I’d have to figure out how to put the picture thingy/album cover on my post and that would make my head hurt. Also? I probably shouldn’t go around copying people. Even funny ones.

Very nice and quite elegant.

And I believe there are now enough bands with albums to hold our own festival. Blogstock!

We can have it at my place. There’s an old quarry near here that would make a great stage, and as an added benefit, during the final set, with all the bands on stage, bulldozers on the rim can fill the quarry in quickly.

Brent, you did it again..you know how to make me laugh!!

OF COURSE your meme was the BEST! I sent it to you especially because I was so curious what you would do.

I’m going to feature it tomorrow night on my blog. I’ve let everyone know in the past how awesome your blog is over in my part of the world and tomorrow night they shall be reminded.

What graphics program did you use? The pic is AWESOME!

If I had money I would make a donation to your latte fund. Thanks for participating! :)

Oh, and I still want to interview Dr. T. I haven’t made the questions yet, but once it’s done, I’ll forward them to you so that your people can forward them to his people. I just hope that he will approve of and answer the questions I will ask. :)

Jeffrey Ellis February 6, 2008 at 9:05 am

Love this meme! Your album cover looks very professional. Heh, “pelewensis” sounds vaguely sexual too, all the more funny.

I made an album cover too, it is at http://jeffreyellis.org/stinker/?p=44.

Brent, do you know if there is anything similar to GarageBand that runs under Windows? GarageBand is only for the Mac.

Hey Brent, How did you and yours fair through the storm? It looks rough in your area. We’re praying for you.

Just to let you know that I haven’t removed you from my blogroll…I’ve just moved the blogroll to another part of my site. This is because I wanted extra space in my sidebar to accomodate for the new web forum I installed recently, that’s all.

I’m surprised! I want to research Dr. Toboggans on your site and realized there is no tag (category) for him. There is a “Toboggans Industries” tag with the organ needles post, but that’s it!

I’m sure he wouldn’t be pleased to know this.

In fact, I’m surprised he doesn’t have his own website. :)

Catherine February 6, 2008 at 1:56 pm

The post has just been published about your meme AND Dr. Toboggans!

I had a little issue when I first published it..some of the links wouldn’t work. So glad I checked them! LOL

All is working now.

Check it out everyone!

Great first album for HP (so THAT’s what it stands for!) but perhaps you should consider another record company. Did you know that “Innuendo” is Italian for “suppository”? Wait … maybe this is right place for HP after all.

“She Blogged Meme All Night Long”….very funny. I love what you did with the album cover. This is one of the best memes I’ve ever done and I’ve really enjoyed looking at the covers. May I add yours to the scroll box in my sidebar? I need to go visiting these other folks and have a look see.

Very forceful cover there, and the name is curious, and now I’m curious to know where that came from. If you finish all the other songs, you could actually sell this.

Reply

Catherine February 8, 2008 at 2:37 am

Brent, your blog is great and one reason it is great is the banter that goes back and forth in the comments. OMG they are all so funny!! Can you imagine everyone here getting together for margaritas and beer at happy hour? It would be a happy, HAPPY hour indeed!

Thanks Chris, with my reputation I can only hang out at the coolest memes. Although they always seem to get a lot smaller once I arrive.

As for the tune, I don’t mind telling you it was tough. At one point the song was going wrong, but then we whipped it.

Brent February 5, 2008 at 8:01 pm

I like the idea but fear I’ll be sued by scores of rhythm impaired and badly injured geeks.

Maybe I should finish it and put it up on itunes.

Acid and Fruity Loops both offer entry level packages for under $100.

Of the two Acid is more like GarageBand and easier to learn. However, in my opinion Fruity Loops is more powerful.

(My song was composed in Fruity Loops with skillful assistance of my engineer, producer, and offspring SPF 100)

All of Dr. T’s direct contact with the outside world, whenever it could not be avoided altogether, is listed under the category of Carping Diem where he first started (and I wish he would stay.)

I know I need to do something with my categories, they are taking over my site.

Thanks Chris,

It was rough here in Memphis last night. The tornados did quite a bit of damage and I hear a dozen or so people were killed.

However, the Comma clan pulled through with only a couple fallen tree branches, thank God.

Even the dog stayed dry.

Just take him. There would be no hurry in bringing him back either.

Reply

Brent February 6, 2008 at 3:12 pm

This is not good.

After all this publicity, I’m afraid his ego may crowd out most other forms of life on this planet, pushing us all out into the cold vacuum of space.

But then again we would be free of him.

Catherine February 6, 2008 at 3:23 pm

Your comment reminds me of my husband.

He is an artist from Casablanca, Morocco. Due to English not being his first language (he knows six languages, though!), one day we were tallking about the expression “Big fish in little water/Little fish in big water”, etc. We were joking around and I asked him, “So, what are you? A big fish in little water or a little fish in big water?”

He responded…..

“I am the water.”

LOLOL

Dr. Toboggans and my husband would get along GREAT! I can already imagine them smoking cigars together while sipping cognac.

HE NEEDS HIS OWN WEB SITE!!!!

Reply

Lord Likely February 6, 2008 at 7:40 pm

Maybe the word innuendo thus derived from the phrase ‘in your end, oh!’

Reply

Brent February 6, 2008 at 8:55 pm

Sure, move me to the corner of the room. That’s how they all start.

Reply

Brent February 6, 2008 at 8:56 pm

He is under the impression that he does. This one to be exact.

Reply

Brent February 6, 2008 at 9:04 pm

Actually, I believe it was comes from “InYourEndZone” a taunt taken from one or more ancient American football dialects. Common usage went like this:

Player one: “Where’s yo momma?”

Player two: “If she was InYourEndZone you’d know.”

I was here first. When will you realize that I am a trend setter.

Of course they are generally downward trends, but someone’s gotta do it.

Reply

I think you hit most of the lyrics right there. The rest of song is just a series of “yeah”s, and guitar slides.

Reply

Brent February 7, 2008 at 7:01 am

I think the term you’re looking for is “unbelievably original, yet aesthetically satisfying.”

I’m glad you like it though.

I completely agree. This is the internet version of a cocktail party. The beauty is that unlike a lot of blogs, I don’t have to do all the work.

I just get the ball rolling and try not to get run over.
